On June 18th, 2022, Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) militants entered Tole Kebele (district) [Gimbi Woreda (district), West Wollega Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia] and opened fire on Amhara civilians in a nine hour long killing spree which spanned ten villages: The massacre lasted for nine hours from morning (8:00 a.m. local time) up to the late afternoon (5:00 p.m. local time) on June 18th, 2022. Heavy machine guns and machetes were used as weapons to kill people. First, the militants began shooting people and then used machetes to finish off victims whom they suspected had not died from the gunshots. The witnesses also told AAA that only ethnic Amharas were targeted, and all killed are Amharas.
