Joint Statement - Against WHO’s Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom

 

Dr. Tedros Adhanom has repeatedly and in multiple ways violated the Constitution of the World Health Organization (WHO) during his tenure as Director-General of the organization. His unethical and irresponsible conduct has made a mockery of the flagship UN institution.

We the undersigned civic and professional organizations commend the Ethiopian government's initiative to launch an inclusive national dialogue with a view to establishing lasting peace and stability in the country.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was sworn in Monday for a second five-year term running a country in the grip of a nearly year-long war against Tigray forces he described as “hateful” toward the nation, while a handful of visiting African leaders urged him to hold things together.
